Three : perfect and finite number.
Three as the points that limit
Sicily, a fertile, rich land in the center of the Mediterranean. And here is the birth of the ancient name, Trinakria , literally three points. The emblem is the head of Medusa
(one of the gorgons) from which three legs come off that chase each other, symbol of the sun in the its three forms (god of spring, summer and winter); or of the moon or more simply of movement. The new name of the island, Sicily (and the most likely hypothesis wants it to mean fertile), did not, however, obscure this evocative image, which is still used today.
